Neural Fault Signature Detection on Motherboard Power Rails

Investigating convolutional neural networks applied to high-frequency transient waveforms to predict micro-fractures in SMD multilayer ceramic capacitors before dead shorts occur.

METHODOLOGY:Capturing 500MS/s voltage transient curves across 12V and 3.3V power rails during device boot sequencing. Waveforms are converted to scalograms using Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) and classified by a lightweight CNN.
KEY FINDING:Achieved 89.2% classification accuracy in distinguishing dry-joint solder degradation from dielectric cracking across 400 test board samples.

Sub-Milliohm 4-Wire Kelvin Impedance Meter for VCC_CORE Tracing

Engineering a custom handheld 4-wire Kelvin probe apparatus capable of measuring printed circuit board copper trace resistance down to 0.0001 ohms to locate pinpoint short circuit coordinates without thermal cameras.

METHODOLOGY:Injecting a calibrated 100mA constant current source across the faulty rail and measuring microvolt drops using a 24-bit delta-sigma ADC (ADS1256). Differential readings guide the technician toward the exact shorted component.
KEY FINDING:Locates shorted capacitors on multi-layer laptop boards within a 3mm radius, eliminating destructive excessive current injection.

OpenTrace: Open-Source Board Diagnostic Netlist Analyzer

A fast, modern open-source tool for parsing and visualizing proprietary laptop boardview files (.brd, .fz, .cad) directly in the browser with WebGL hardware acceleration.

METHODOLOGY:Written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly. Parses raw binary boardview structures in under 15ms and renders 40,000+ pins with GPU instanced rendering.
KEY FINDING:Provides 60fps panning and search on complex 12-layer server motherboards. Over 1,200 GitHub stars and adopted by independent repair laboratories worldwide.

Precision Delta-Robot SMD Desoldering & Cleaning Head

Exploring a computer-vision guided delta robot arm with hot-air micro-nozzle and vacuum pickup for automated de-soldering of 0201 passives on recycled motherboards.

METHODOLOGY:High-magnification top-down machine vision locates components, matches against schematic geometry, adjusts hot air temperature curves dynamically, and lifts the target chip without disturbing neighboring silicon.
KEY FINDING:Bench simulation completed. Kinematic motion precision verified to ±15 microns in XYZ axes.
